The role:

We’re looking to hire a senior and experienced executive to lead a multi-disciplinary team to take our existing Data organization to the next level. This team interacts with our software engineering teams in creating our core application but also manages a large data environment.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and managing teams that create and maintain robust high volume data pipelines and processes. The candidate should have deep familiarity with AWS infrastructures as well as experience with platforms such as Airflow, Kafka, Flink as well as database environments like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Hadoop, Snowflake and Pinot.

For this position we would expect the ideal candidate to have experience in:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a forward-looking data strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing data team, ensuring best practices both in team structure, management and interactions with the software development organization.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with the latest tools, techniques, and best practices. Lead the adoption of new technologies to ensure the company remains at the forefront of the industry.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, especially the engineering, and analytics teams, to ensure data-driven decisions across the organization.
  • Data Science: Have a history of successfully collaborating with data science teams, understanding their needs and building robust data pipelines for machine learning and analytics.
  • Optimization: Regularly review and refine data processes and tools for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Data Governance: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Infrastructure Costs: Ensure proper budgeting and financial planning around large data environments.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  • 10 plus years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record.
  • Experience with different types of software development lifecycles and the tools used in them.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex data environments to senior stakeholders.
  • Adept at problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Passion for innovation and staying updated with the latest trends in the data domain.
