About Shoplift

Shoplift is a venture-backed seed-stage SaaS startup. Our product is a web app that allows Shopify merchants to increase their revenue by optimizing their stores with easy, no-code A/B testing.

Shoplift is the first platform to offer Shopify merchants a truly no-code A/B testing experience

that natively integrates with Shopify's template format. Rather than giving merchants a clunky visual editor that tries to read your HTML classes, as almost all A/B testing platforms do, Shoplift cuts out this abstraction layer, which gives users dramatically more power and flexibility to interact with test variants as if they were editing their own theme. Shoplift also offers Lift Assist™, which scrapes any merchant's brand styles and generates entirely new page components that are ready to be deployed to their site in minutes.

We're in-market, well-funded, and starting to grow, so we're looking for a seasoned veteran engineer to be our 10x ninja that can build the bridge to where we're going next.

You'll have complete ownership of the stack, but won't be on an island: we're lucky to have a talented team of senior US-based engineers who will continue to support us full-time as we look for someone local who can build out our internal team.

We have a clear roadmap and goals with a technical debt load that is manageable.

The next leg of the roadmap includes ML/AI, so we're looking for someone who's interested/experienced in building models.

About the role

• You’ll get to spend your time writing code without distractions. We keep meetings to a minimum other than daily stand-ups
• Scope and architect projects with complex requirements
• Own large features and be expected to see them through to completion
• Hire and manage other engineers
• Work with other engineers and cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver powerful and accessible features
• Maintain and extend our relational database architecture and tracking apparatus to support new algorithmic features
• Develop user interfaces with Typescript (Vue.js) and the backend architecture required to power them with C# and PostgreSQL
• Contribute to resource planning and roadmap discussions
• Build, maintain, parse, manipulate, and leverage Shopify-specific assets written and constructed in Liquid and JSON
• Help balance team bandwidth and priorities in order to meet short-term and long-term goals

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience owning entire products or features
• 2+ years developing ML or AI algorithms
• Experience working for a startup
• You’re located in NYC-area and comfortable with hybrid work environment (we're flexible)
• Expertise in databases, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience with .NET 5+ runtime
• C++, Python, C#, Typescript, SQL, NoSQL
• Experience with Entity Framework Core (with heavy/optimized use of LINQ)
• Experience with asynchronous programming patterns
• Experience with Agile development practices, continuous integration and refactoring
• Must be able to articulate ideas effectively to executives and business leaders
• Must be willing to make key strategic decisions, communicate the reasoning behind those decisions, and follow through on driving adoption

Nice to have

• Experience with Liquid and/or the Shopify ecosystem
• Experience writing R
• Experience designing and developing machine learning models or algorithms
• Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related fiel
